About

Welcome to my 52 photos project blog. As the name suggests, it’s my photography blog :P, where I will be posting one photo per week [though the one photo per week rule isn’t always followed!].

The idea, and inspiration behind this blog

I have always enjoyed taking photos, whether it is with my cell phone camera, or my DSLR. I got my first camera, Kodak CX6200 in 2005, then upgraded to Canon S5 IS in 2008, and finally got my first DSLR, Canon EOS 1000D (Rebel XS) in 2009.

I have been following various photography blogs, and forums over the years. Found an interesting article on Digital Photography School that talked about ways to enhance and increase your photography potential. One of the ideas suggested was a 365 project [one photo per day] and a 52 project [the one I am currently on]. Loved the idea of one photo per day, and started off with a bang on January 1, 2010. This idea, though interesting, isn’t always a great option for people with full time job. The 365 project suffered because of tight schedules, deadlines, and finally I decided to abandon it.

The rookie photographer in me couldn’t sit still, so the 365 was revived, and upgraded [or downgraded.. however you wish to look at it ;)] to project 52.

So, here I am. Project 52 photos, kicked off [again] in July 2010, and still going strong. [Edit] Project 52 – Year 1 was completed on December 31, 2011. And I’ve just begun Year 2 [/Edit]

Personal projects, like this one, are a great way of increasing your knowledge and to keep in touch with your passion.
